Bassist Tim Feerick is dead. His band Dance Gavin Dance announced this on their social media channels on Thursday before Easter. A cause of death is not publicly known. Feerick was 34 years old.

On Monday, the Sacramento-based post-hardcore band went into more detail about their future without Feerick. It was in the interests of him and his family that they did not cancel their upcoming concerts. Her appearance at the Swanfest festival, for example, is in memory of Feerick. Sergio Medina, a friend of the band who also worked with Feerick, will take on the role of bassist.

Tim Feerick first accompanied Dance Gavin Dance as live bass player in 2009 and 2010. Since 2012 he has been a permanent member of a more stable line-up since then. 14 musicians have been part of Dance Gavin Dance at times in the past, plus various live musicians. Dance Gavin Dance have released nine studio albums since their debut EP, WHATEVER I SAY IS ROYAL OCEAN (2006), with their tenth set to follow this year. Their roots are in post-hardcore, math rock and screamo. With singer Tilian Pearson, pop elements have also increasingly found their way into the band since 2012. The band’s past influences include At The Drive-In, Cursive and Radiohead, while others have compared them to Alexisonfire, The Fall Of Troy and Circa Survive.
