Tim den Besten taken off the air: ‘Strict policy for children’s television’

Tim den Besten will be taken off the TV immediately. The KRO-NCRV has last minute decided to cancel the entire finals week of Waku Waku. “We have a very strict policy.”

It appears that Tim den Besten has misbehaved in a serious and nasty way on the dating app Grindr, but the presenter does not want to respond to this. The VPRO star has announced that he is suffering from a rare form of cancer and that he wants to be left alone. And in the meantime, he is taken off the tube as a precaution.

Tim from the tube

The KRO-NCRV has decided ‘in close consultation with the NPO’ not to broadcast the five final episodes of the family game show Waku Waku, in which Tim den Besten appears as a candidate, this week. “This decision follows an article earlier this week in which Den Besten is accused of identity fraud.”

Tim has, it seems, used the identities of three men to have dirty conversations on Grindr. The men in question are extremely bothered by this and have reported identity fraud. “The latter is a subject within our youth programming that we regularly warn and message children about.”

Strict policy

It is true that Tim has not yet been convicted, a spokesperson for KRO-NCRV admits. “We naturally make such a decision with great care. We understand that this concerns a private situation and that an accusation is not a conviction.”

The press officer continues: “However, we also have a strict policy when it comes to children’s and family programs. We have informed Tim of our decision through his contact person.”

‘Very sorry’

KRO-NCRV’s statement came to the attention of Yvonne Coldeweijer. “The recordings were already in July, but last Friday the candidates were told that the broadcasts will not take place this week,” she writes on her juicechannel.

A follower of Yvonne reacts disappointed: “How stupid. My kids were looking forward to finals week. And then I would have reported it on Friday (with subtitles if necessary) after the last broadcast.”
