The big Tim den Besten scandal is on the street: according to Het Parool, he has seriously misbehaved on Grindr and three reports have now been filed against him. “F**k me please!”
The information that Yvonne Coldeweijer released last week about Tim den Besten appears to be correct: Het Parool has just published a revealing article about the VPRO presenter. There are three reports against him for very serious misconduct on the popular gay dating app Grindr and the police are investigating.
Grindr misconduct
What exactly is going on? Tim’s three accusers claim that he misused their identities on Grindr. For a year and a half, he allegedly used the names and private photos of these men to have explicit conversations with other users. The conversations were sexually explicit (‘f**k me please‘) and went all night long.
The victims have experienced psychological problems as a result and say they have been approached by friends and acquaintances who thought they were the ones having these conversations. “Two out of three say they are in therapy because of it. One of the men works in the media world and fears losing customers.”
Stalking and defamation
How do they know Tim is behind it? Partly thanks to the help of Grindr. “They were able to find out that the messages were sent from Den Besten’s home address. (…) They asked him to stop. Things seemed quiet for more than a month, but the fake accounts became active again in mid-September.”
What can Tim be accused of? The police have not yet completely figured this out, but it concerns, for example, stalking, identity fraud and libel and slander. It also plays a role in the fact that nude photos were taken from other men using a fake identity. In other words: there are many victims in the game.
Careful consideration
Shortly after Yvonne’s report, Tim revealed that he has a rare form of cancer. The juice queen thinks that is terrible, but according to her it should not be used as a lightning rod, because the facts he is accused of are quite serious. There is a considerable impact.
The VPRO previously announced that Tim has not worked since October 10, officially due to the ‘major impact’ that his illness has ‘on his mental health’. Het Parool first asked Tim to respond on October 9, when he was still working for the broadcaster. Tim does not want to respond despite repeated requests.
What does VPRO say?
Why does Het Parool come out with this while Tim has announced that he has cancer? “After careful consideration, Het Parool has decided to publish given the seriousness of the abuse and the fact that the allegations relate to a long period during which Den Besten carried out its regular activities.”
The VPRO says it is not aware of any reports. “This takes place within the private sphere of Tim den Besten,” said a spokesperson. “The VPRO does not know the content of these declarations and cannot therefore respond substantively to them.”
