Till Lindemann’s mother publishes “declaration of love to my son”

“If I didn’t happen to be his mother, I would like to be friends with this man,” says Gitta Lindemann.

Till Lindemann divided opinions like no other this year. Many fans reckoned with the Rammstein frontman, but some supporters remained loyal to him – despite the overwhelming allegations of sexual violence. Mother Gitta Lindemann also supports her son. She expresses this again in her book “My Window Seats”.

Since the 1980s, the 84-year-old cultural journalist has been collecting texts that capture her individual view of the world and significant moments in her life. In addition to a diary entry by the Dresden native, which is dated from May 1990 to January 2, 1992 and reflects the emotional state of former GDR citizens, there are also very personal stories in the book, such as the last moments with her husband Werner Lindemann.

“We washed and dressed you. Your son tapped you on the chest – hey old man, he said, very despondent and we both cried. “I couldn’t watch them carry you away, so I cowardly sneaked into the garden,” the author writes in her text. Werner Lindemann was one of the most famous poets in the GDR, whose poems were part of school reading at the time. He died in 1993.

Mother raves about Till Lindemann

The mother also dedicated an entire text to her son Till Lindemann entitled “Declaration of Love to My Son”. The musician was always the “family guardian” who lovingly looked after his grandmother. So he picked her up for Christmas dinner in her wheelchair and fed her. In addition, Mecklenburg is his “source of strength,” according to the author. Gitta Lindemann continues to rave: “If I didn’t happen to be his mother, I would like to be friends with this man.”

Finally, the journalist, who has already worked at GDR Radio and NDR, describes her life like this: “I’ve always tried to live in an ivory tower, but a sea of shit hits its walls.”
