At his New Year’s Eve concert at the Guanamor Teatro Studio in the Mexican city of Zapopan, Till Lindemann performed his cover of “Entre Dos Tierras” live for the first time. Previously, on Christmas Day 2023, he released the classic by the Spanish band Heroes Del Silencio as a single, around two months after his solo album “Zunge”.
Lindemann is a big fan of the group, which dissolved in 2007 and enjoys cult status in its homeland. The song “Entre Dos Tierras” was produced by Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), released in 1990 and was also a summer hit in Germany two years later – number 25 in the charts and therefore even more successful than in Spain, where it was Song about a “person between two worlds” only reached number 34.
It is possible that Till Lindemann, who has been exposed to serious allegations of abusive behavior since May 2023, is “just” a fan of the song. In “Entre Dos Tierras” it says, among other things: “And if you think about backing out / You have to erase a lot of traces”, “You find yourself between two countries /And you don’t leave any room to breathe”, “You have to “swallow a lot of mud” … enough clues to find references to Till Lindemann’s past year. Whether he made the associations himself and therefore decided to release the song in an industrial studio version as a single remains to be seen.
As can be seen in the video clip, Lindemann not only masters Spanish singing live, the Mexican concertgoers cheer the musician, who is traveling on a solo tour and who will also be celebrating his 61st birthday with a live performance in Mexico on Thursday (January 4th). , with “Lindemann” chants.
