– Great feeling, but the emotions went from side to side. I didn’t know how to grasp it myself right away, how this feels. It just felt incredible, he says.

The mother is happy with her son’s achievement.

– It is great and wonderful that Kalle has now achieved what he has dreamed of and worked hard for. Now it has been achieved and at such an early stage. It’s absolutely amazing.

Kalle Rovanperä turned 22 on Saturday.

– Kalle is the most important and dearest person in the world to me. We have traveled this journey as a group, even though we are in Kallen Harry-divorced with father a long time ago, Tiina’s mother says.

Tiina Rovanperä was running a competition studio at the cottage over the weekend. During the final moment, the mother went for a walk to the cabin road.

– Now I was more tense than normal and I was walking along the cottage road in pitch darkness. Then the door of the neighbor’s cabin was opened and a loud roar of yes was heard. At that point, my stomach was spinning as to whether it would be the world championship. Then I ran to the cabin, Rovanperä says.

He doesn’t watch Kalle’s driving live on TV at all.

– I have decided that I will always leave with Kalle. It has the same background that a few times I happened to open the transmission, and that’s when Kalle drove off the road.

At the cabin, the confirmation of the championship was celebrated moderately.

– We drank morning coffee and had glasses of skumpa with my sister, her son and the neighbors, says Tiina Rovanperä.

– He probably feels relieved after all the speculation related to the world championship that has continued for months. Now it has been patted down and one stage has been reached, Tiina’s mother states.

Kalle’s father Harri Rovanperä has also driven the World Rally Championship.

– Kalle was eight months old when we went to watch his father’s rally, Tiina Rovanperä recalls.

Motor toys have interested Kalle since he learned to walk.

– They were an object of great interest as a small child. Maybe at the point when he was driving in Latvia when he was really young, I started thinking about how far we are going and if I should start touring the forests from the beginning. That’s how it happened, Tiina’s mother says.

According to him, the creations of mother and son are the same.

– You don’t cry even if there is a reason. With Kalle, I’m a down-to-earth guy and I don’t let out my emotions by crying. Now, however, he even danced a little on the roof of the car at the finish line, Tiina says with a laugh.

– I have always told Kalle as a way of life, that honesty will go a long way in all matters. Consideration of other people is also important.

– It seems that the end of the year will be so busy that Kalle will not come to Finland until before Christmas. Kalle’s favorite food, a box of macaroni, is definitely eaten at Christmas. Of course, a party will be organized later among family, relatives and friends, Rovanperä says.

He says that he was not prepared beforehand for his son’s world championship.

– Everything is possible as long as the matter is confirmed. I have to go to work on Monday morning, so I intend to spend a very relaxing Sunday lying on the sofa, says Tiina Rovanperä.
