Tied up night porter (22) of hotel in Putten was threatened with gun and machete: police share images wells

VIDEOThe two robbers who brutally overpowered a night porter of hotel Mooi Veluwe in Putten at the end of November 2021 are still at large. In the TV show Investigation Requested Images of the robbery, including a reconstruction, were shown tonight.

In the night from Friday 26 to Saturday 27 November, the 22-year-old man, who is a student in daily life and who works at the hotel two nights a week, experienced a quiet shift. But when he wanted to take out the trash around 2 a.m. during his regular garbage round, he was suddenly overpowered by two young men. They threatened him with a pistol and machete and then tied him up in the hallway.

According to the police, the two knew exactly where to be, presumably through insider information. While one perpetrator went straight to the safe and quickly got hold of the key, the other stayed with the night porter. The second assailant searched the doorman’s wallet. Meanwhile, he held the four-inch machete close to the victim’s head and neck.

without a trace

After a few minutes, the two fled with a red plastic bag. It contained the contents of the safe, which, according to the police, was not very much. An extensive search in the area yielded nothing: the perpetrators managed to escape and are still missing. It would be two men around 20 years old.

The police have some clues and are asking for more tips by sharing the images. For example, the victim’s driver’s license – which was taken from his wallet – was left behind on the bicycle path between the hotel and Putten. ,,It seems that they fled in the direction of Putten. That place also means that they were on a scooter or bicycle,” said spokesperson Anne Coenen in the TV program. “They may also have received help from a third perpetrator who was on guard outside.”

Five months after this incident, the victim has not yet been able to resume his work as a night porter. However, he was also offered victim assistance. Coenen: “Processing something like this takes a lot of time.” The hotel has taken security measures to prevent something like this from happening again.
