Tickets for SAS’s first electric flights in 2028 sold out in no time | To travel

Airline Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) started selling tickets for its first electric flights on Friday and the tickets flew out the door in no time. However, travelers who managed to get a seat will still have to be patient. After all, the flights are planned for 2028 at the earliest.

SAS’s first electric flights will be domestic flights in Sweden, Norway and Denmark and while there is no official departure date yet, the airline is aiming for 2028, it writes on its website.

Ticket sales for the 90 available seats started on Friday afternoon at 12 noon. Travelers could book a maximum of two seats. A ticket cost 1946 Swedish kronor (converted 168 euros), a reference to the year in which the airline SAS started. All seats were sold out in minutes.

However, the costs will only be charged 30 days before the departure of the flight.

Travelers who managed to get a seat will be kept constantly informed of the progress, writes SAS, which cannot yet give an official departure date, departure location or destination or even say which aircraft will be used.

“A final decision has not yet been made on which electric aircraft will perform the first flight,” said SAS, which has several initiatives for zero-emission flights. On the booking page, customers were already shown an ES-30, which is being developed by Heart Aerospace. The ES-30, which can accommodate 30 passengers, can cover distances of 200 kilometers on electrical power alone. The electric-hybrid devices are suitable for distances of 400 kilometres.
