Good news for those who want to experience culture this winter in one of the most beautiful places in the Ommeland. The day tickets for the Grasnapolsky festival have gone on sale.
Grasnapolsky, what is that again? Well, a very cool festival at one of the most beautiful festival locations in the province of Groningen. Namely an old straw cardboard factory in Scheemda.
The story of East Groningen
The festival knows how to celebrate and honor the province in an artistic way. For the first five years the festival took place on the Veluwe. In 2019, they moved to Scheemda. After four editions in De Toekomst (that’s the name of the factory), the question was: should we look for a new location again? The answer was no. The place is too beautiful and the love for Groningen is too great. Moreover, according to the organizers, there are still plenty of stories to tell in Groningen
This year, Gras delves into the Groningen world and culture under the theme ‘Ground to Stay’. ‘The factory tells a story about East Groningen, the place where we are and the ground on which we want to stay as a festival and build beautiful projects together with artists, artists, makers and the public’, as they write.
Personal Trainer, Morpheus and Chibi Ichigo
In De Toekomst you can listen to performances for three days, from March 8 to 10. Don’t expect all the super big names that have already destroyed huge festival fields. No, here you mainly listen to artists who might still do that. Well-known names such as Froukje, Lucky Fonz III, Prins S. en de Geit, Tramhaus, Goldband and S10 were at the festival in previous years. This year’s line-up includes Personal Trainer, Morpheus and Chibi Ichigo. Click here for the entire programme.
There is also a whole program of expeditions in the province and art performances. So you can dive in the history of a huge statue of Lenin that has been wandering through the province of Groningen for years. But perhaps the best thing is to get lost in the raw industrial factory De Toekomst, where there are still remains of old machines here and there and where the light falls in a fairytale on nice days.
