‘Ticket sales in Gordon are going very badly’

Patty Brard was shocked. She and her colleagues at Shownieuws have discovered that ticket sales for Gordon’s theater tour are going very poorly. “A handful!”

When popular artists announce a tour, as a fan you have to be very quick: as soon as ticket sales start, real digital queues are created to accommodate all interested parties. Anouk’s concerts in the Ziggo Dome were sold out in fifteen minutes (!). How are Gordon’s ticket sales going?

Dozens of cards

Gordon started selling tickets on Friday for a real theater tour – there are nine concerts on the schedule playlist – but only a few dozen tickets have been sold. “A small setback for Gordon, Bart,” says presenter Manuel Venderbos at the desk Show news.

That’s right, answers show expert Bart Ettekoven. “Yes, after last Tuesday’s false start at the presentation of his new album, he of course announced his theater tour on Friday and things are not going so well yet, and I’m putting it mildly. A handful of tickets sold in most venues.”

Back in the sandbox?

According to Bart, you notice that it doesn’t work. “He is going to give nine or ten concerts throughout the country. He’s going to do Amsterdam, Utrecht, he’s going to go all over the country, I saw Apeldoorn among them, but things aren’t going very well yet.”

“I don’t know if he’s planning to fly to Dubai after all the hassle of the past week, that he might just think: oof, just relax and sit in the sandbox again for a while, but I would if I were him stay in the Netherlands for a while and do the necessary promotion, because I think, if you look at it that way, he still has to work for a while.”

Patty critical

Patty Brard emphasizes that things are really going very badly. “If you look at it like this and you’re in the middle of your promotional tour – and we don’t want to be sour about that at all, because we really wish him the best, and we really want him to draw full houses – but so far it hasn’t just sold few, but really handfuls of tickets.”

Perhaps Gordon can save things by turning it into some kind of sponsorship deal, she decides. “I think he still needs to do some promotion and maybe management can ensure that he sells out a show to a lottery or you name it. That encourages people to go too.”
