Ticket madness at BVB before the title final against Mainz 05

A good 81,000 fans fit into the Borussia Dortmund stadium. But at the season finale against Mainz 05, where nothing less than the German championship is at stake, hundreds of thousands of BVB supporters would love to be there live. A circumstance that is reflected in the prices.

There can never be enough tickets for the last home game of the season against Mainz. Some offer tickets on the Internet – for sometimes astronomical sums.

Recently, two standing room tickets (regular price: 18.50 euros each) went over the virtual table on the online marketplace ebay for a whopping 2,490 euros. Incomprehensible! And that’s not the only immoral offer above the 1,000 euro mark.

On Saturday, BVB can finally become German champions again for the first time since 2012. Dortmund is already intoxicated. And apparently so do the followers.

The usury makes many fans pissed off: “Almost 3,000 euros for a ticket south/block 10 at viagogo. I hope you get it,” raged a BVB supporter on Twitter.

Or: “If FC Bayern only has successful fans, what are the BVB supporters if they are willing to pay more than 1,000 euros for a ticket on the last day of the match?” Another fan mops.

With 81,000 spectators, the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday is of course already sold out. The club could have sold 300,000 tickets for the last game of the season before the hoped-for mega championship celebration, says BVB head of organization Christian Hockenjos about the ticket hype.

And those who spent thousands of dollars on black market tickets? May they at least witness a black and yellow master orgy. Otherwise it would only be a waste of money for a dream
