The German national team’s draw in Italy was overshadowed by problems surrounding the tickets. Now the association has expressed itself.
The German national football team at least drew 1-1 (0-0) in the Nations League in Italy, but for many fans of the DFB selection it was not an all-round successful away trip. The handling of the Italian authorities with the guests caused some trouble among the supporters in Bologna on Saturday, the German Football Association reacted to the displeasure.
“Dear fans of the DFB team,” the association wrote on Twitter on Sunday evening, “thank you for your support in Bologna! Unfortunately, the framework conditions for the game were not as they should be for guests. We will contact the Italian authorities that this doesn’t happen again. Thank you for your composure.”
What happened? As is usual for international matches of the DFB team abroad, the German spectators had to pick up the tickets ordered through the national team fan club by presenting a voucher. However, the designated location was 30 minutes from the city center and shuttle buses were no longer available for the return journey.
That’s why numerous fans only came to the Stadio Dall’Ara at the last minute. Around 800 away fans who had ordered their tickets through the fan club were affected. A total of about 1000 German supporters were there.
