THW Kiel signs European champion Wallinius

Handball record champion THW Kiel has committed the Swedish European champion Karl Wallinius. The 23-year-old backcourt player is moving from top French club Montpellier HB to the Förde and has been given a contract until June 30, 2027.

With the transfer, the cup winners also reacted to the loss of star player Sander Sagosen, who will not be available for the entire first half of the upcoming season after breaking his ankle.

“After Sander Sagosen’s injury, we had the clear goal of getting a player who will be able to help us in the long term,” said THW Managing Director Viktor Szilagyi: “He made a big leap last year – also through his international appearances strong defense and throwing. Now is exactly the right time to integrate him into our team.”

The Kiel team had previously signed pivot Petter Överby, goalkeeper Tomas Mrkva and backcourt player Eric Johansson. The new season starts for the THW with the Supercup against champions SC Magdeburg on August 31st in Düsseldorf.
