THW Kiel clearly wins the last home game of the Champions League group stage

The German handball record champion THW Kiel has won its last home game in the group stage of the Champions League.

Thanks to a strong second half, Kiel clearly defeated the Slovenian champions RK Celje 39:27 (17:15) and thus secured fourth place in Group B.

Third place, which is definitely relevant for the round of 16, is still possible on the last day of the coming week.

The best THW goal scorer was Danish world champion Magnus Landin with a perfect score of nine goals from nine throws.

Due to the completely safe success, sixth win in the 13th group game, the Schleswig-Holsteiners successfully took revenge for the 36:38 defeat in the first leg at the end of September in Celje.

However, Kiel had no chances of one of the coveted first and second places before the game.

Only the two best teams in each of the two groups of eight are directly in the quarter-finals. The teams in third to sixth place first go into the playoffs, the better the performance, the “easier” the opponent from the parallel group. The third plays against the sixth, the fourth against the fifth.
