Dylan Groenewegen has won the third stage in the Tour de France. The Amsterdammer was the fastest in a bunch sprint against, among others, Wout van Aert. Groenwegen crossed the finish line in Sønderborg, Denmark, after more than four hours.

Van Aert crossed the line in second and therefore retains the yellow jersey. The Belgian missed out on the stage win for the second time, after he had to beat Fabio Jakobsen on Saturday. Besides Groenewegen and Van Aert, Jasper Philipsen and Peter Sagan crossed the finish line at the same time.

The jury still had to check it quickly, but the victory was no longer taken from Groenwegen. Sunday was the last stage in Denmark and Monday follows a rest day. The Tour will restart in Dunkirk from Tuesday.

Groenewegen made his comeback in the Tour de France this week after three years. The past period was mainly dominated by his suspension. He was banned for nine months in 2020 due to a serious accident with Jakobsen. That happened at the Tour of Poland. The last stage win of the Amsterdammer in the Tour de France was in 2019. He won two stages in 2018 and one in 2017.
