Thundercat and Tame Impala release single together

Thundercat and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker released a collaborative song, “No More Lies,” on Tuesday (April 25). Multi-instrumentalist Parker takes on guitar, drums and keyboards while Stephen L. Brunner (aka Thundercat) plays bass. The vocals come from both of them.

“I’ve wanted to work with Kevin since the very first Tame Impala album,” says the bassist of the co-production. “I feel like I knew our collaboration was going to be special. I’ve been obsessed with this song for a long time and hope to do more with Kevin in the future.” Parker had a rough idea of the song and Brunner provided vocal and lyric ideas. “I’m open to many different, new things. I’m excited, but in a different way – I’m entering uncharted territory, so to speak,” Thundercat told ROLLING STONE.

His last self-release to date was “It Is What It Is”, which was released in 2020. In the meantime he has been heard on Gorillaz’s “Cracker Island”.

Kevin Parker also worked with the virtual band on their latest album, for example he can be heard collaborating with Bootie Brown on the song “New Gold”. The current Tame Impala album – “The Slow Rush” – was also released in 2020.
