The start of the W Series in the framework of the last Formula 1 Miami GP was quite a spectacle. And the three Spanish drivers participating for the second year in the 100% female single-seater category had an outstanding performance. This weekend they hope to be able to repeat in front of the home fans, at the Spanish GP.

Nerea Marti (Valencia, 20 years old), Martha Garcia (Alicante, 21 years old) and Belen Garcia (Barcelona, 22 years old) arrive at the Circuit with maximum ambition and the three of them are very clear that they must take advantage of the opportunity that this championship promoted by the FIA has given them. “If it weren’t for the W Series, we probably wouldn’t be able to compete in single-seaters, much less share stages with Formula 1, which is the best possible showcase and gives us visibility & rdquor ;, acknowledges Belen.

Of the three, she is the one who lives the Barcelona event with more intensity, since the Circuit is just 15 kilometers from her hometown, L’Ametlla del Valles. In Miami, Belén caressed the podium and this Saturday it hopes to release the one that has been installed as a novelty in the remodeled facilities of Montmeló. My expectations for this race are the same as for the rest of the season: let me be seen in the top positions. But it is true that these are very special days. For me, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is a unique place and has enormous meaning”, points out the Catalan driver, who debuted in an F4 in 2018.

Nerea comes from taking pole and second place in Miami, which places her in second provisional position in the general classification, which is led by the British Jamie Chadwick, current champion. Marta, who was a driver at the Renault academy, also got on the podium two weeks ago, but lost it due to suspension.

In a championship that has just started and that promises strong emotions in the ten dates of the season, the three Spanish representatives have an unbeatable opportunity to vindicate themselves before their fans and, incidentally, make it clear that the W Series is not only to meet the ‘quota ‘ feminine.
