In Germany, three hill jumping towers in the Bilderschlag district of Hildburghausen were burned last Sunday. The jumpers belonging to the SV Bibereau sports club were covered in flames several meters high.

Police suspect it is arson. The fire was extinguished for 20 minutes. The entire base of the jumpers needs to be renovated, which is estimated to cost around € 70,000 to € 100,000.

The ski jumping towers were in use for SV Bibereau’s own juniors. The lighting was remodeled last year. The new coach tower had been commissioned the previous week. For enthusiasts, the place has been in use since 2004.

About 50 children practice combined and cross-country skiing at the sports club. For the time being, the entire training center is closed. The youth competition scheduled for next week needs to be relocated.
