Three sistersthe plot
Caterina (Francini), Marina (Autieri) and Sabrina (Bevilacqua) they are three women all different from each other, united by the search for love. In the tortuous path to succeed, they stumble over the unexpected events that this often reserves. Not by chance the film opens with a quote from Joseph Conrad: «being a woman is a difficult task, since it mainly consists in dealing with men».
There plot takes its cue from escape of Marina and Sabrina at the Circeo close to August 15th 2019. The first is a bourgeois woman, whose seemingly perfect world collapses after discovering that her husband Mario (Robert Steiner), head of orthopedics, cheats on her with his assistant. She is certain that her heart will never be able to beat again for a man.

Heartbroken and desperate, she turns to her sister, who is also in the throes of a profound marital crisis. This time, however, she is responsible for her. Her husband leaves her after discovering her umpteenth betrayal. Besides, he’s a lawyer and he’s bent on ruining her. Sabrina is different from Marina: he has a shop, a rebellious attitude, but also an addiction to alcohol and sex.

For both it is a bad period and the solution is to disconnect from everyday life. The villa becomes the good retreat in which to smooth over the frenzies and release the tensions they have had to deal with recently. Soon after Caterina (Chiara Francini), the third sister, arrives. She works in the cinema as a costume designer and is looking for a prince charming.
He lives in a world made of romantic films, whose protagonists are perfect men ready to save their damsel. And the impact with reality plunges her into a perpetual depression. «I don’t understand why I can’t find a man who mutters and uncomforts me. My life is destined for sadness. I’m a bitch”it is said.
He joins the trio the Venezuelan Lorena (Rocío Muñoz Morales), Marina’s masseuse, recently single again. Together they decide to erase men from their lives. So the stay outside the city represents a good expedient to find each other herselfbut it doesn’t take much for them to start looking around again.

That’s it love comes knocking on the doorbut they don’t know it’s just the beginning of a new winding pathwhich will lead them to write a new page. Marina starts dating her neighbor Antonio Russo (Fabio Troiano), a writer from which she remains captivated. In a short time she falls in love with him and already fantasizes about a possible relationship.
“I forgot what it meant to be in love,” she confesses to her sister. “I thought I’d never experience those butterflies in my stomach again, a wonderful feeling. I don’t know, waiting for a phone call, looking into space and seeing her face imprinted in the sky. I rediscovered what a feeling is, I thought I had become cold, but also a little dry.’ In short, Antonio makes her heart beat.

However, the man is not as transparent as he seems. It’s the classic tombeur de femmes and Catherine too falls into his net. To make matters worse, he also tries with Lorena, who, however, categorically refuses his attentions. Indeed, she is saved by Tonino (Vincenzo Sebastiani), a little boy in love with her. That’s not all, because it turns out that Antonio has omitted a small detail: he is married (to play the wife is Eleonora Pedronpartner of the actor also in real life).
Three women in love with their father
Meanwhile Sabrina meets Guido (Massimiliano Rosolino)who pretends to be the owner of a boat, but in the nick of time his true identity is revealed and the woman is forced to flee in a daring way. Before leaving she says to him: «Do you see that I’m right not to undress anymore? Why with people like you it’s not worth it and unfortunately they are almost all like you». And who knows, maybe she too will end up taking the bait from the neighbor.
They complete the cast Nadia Rinaldi as FilomenaTonino’s mother, Danilo D’Agostino (Gabriele) e Luke Ward. The latter interprets the father with whom the three sisters are hopelessly in love. And perhaps this is the obstacle: looking for that beloved father in every man they meet.
The challenge of director Enrico Vanzina
For the director Enrico Vanzina Three sisters represents “a great challenge. It was the first time I had to make an all-female film, without the help of some great national comedian,” he said in a note. And he says he is satisfied with the result he has achieved, so satisfied that in the future he will continue «to work on women’s humour».
He asked the protagonists to dig “in their sensitivity to bring out the emotions”. About the character of Anthonyhe defines it “a despicable man”, but his goal is not “to put him in the pillory”.
