A turbulent encounter in the 2nd Bundesliga – after being sent off, a VAR decision and a back and forth, 1. FC Nuremberg beat SV Wehen Wiesbaden 2-1 (0-0). The goals were scored by Ivan Prtajin (55th minute) for the guests and Jan Gyamera (68th) and Tim Handwerker (76th) for Nuremberg.
Nuremberg’s Ahmet Gürleyen (10th) saw the red card early on, on the Wiesbaden side Hyun-Ju Lee (40th) and Martin Angha (85th) had to leave the field early. Nuremberg ultimately secured the second win of the season.
The SVWW suffered their first defeat of the season on the fourth day of the game.“We’re annoyed about it. We were outnumbered, got tied because we provoked it unnecessarily.”said SVWW coach Markus Kauczinski. “In the end we weren’t smart enough and mature enough to take a point here.”
Red card for Nuremberg – after almost eleven minutes
Already in the eleventh minute the “club” had to make do with ten men. Defender Ahmet Gürleyen saw the red card after an emergency brake against Prtajin. Gürleyen had brought down his opponent by pulling his jersey.
In the 40th minute, however, the tie was restored because of a yellow-red card against Wehen’s Hyunju Lee for foul play. Guest’s Martin Angha was also shown a yellow-red in the 85th minute.
Wiesbaden hits the bar, Nuremberg too
In the 27th minute, Wiesbaden defender Angha hit the crossbar of the “Club” goal with a head. After half-time, FCN trainer Cristian Fiél initially saw the dominant home side, where Benjamin Goller (48th) only put a free kick on the crossbar.
The goal fell out of nowhere when Prtajin headed in from a corner to take the lead. Nuremberg’s defender Gyamerah and Handwerker punished the fact that the Croatian missed a hundred percent chance shortly afterwards.
“I’ve never experienced that before, wild, sometimes crazy. If you’re honest, we’re the happier winners.”said Nuremberg coach Christian Fiel. “It’s loud, you can’t influence much”that was very challenging in the coaching. “Today we’re happy, tomorrow too. We’ve got seven points, that’s okay. And next week it starts again at 0-0.”
