Three members of ‘t Aol Volk receive a ribbon

Three members of the folkloric association ‘t Aol’ Volk from Emmen received a royal decoration on Monday. Leny Veldhuis-Teuben (75), Ab Groote (77) and Anne Tinge (68), all from Emmen, were appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.

The corresponding decorations were pinned on them by Mayor Eric van Oosterhout during a meeting in the De Meerstede community center in Emmermeer.

The three received the ribbons because of their long service: each had been volunteers for more than forty years at this association that is committed to preserving Drenthe’s culture and folklore. Mr Groote has been writing and translating Drenthe texts for the association magazine for more than forty years. He is also a participant in the clothing show group.

Mrs Veldhuis-Teuben has played an important role within the clothing department for quite some time. Together with other members, she ensures that the clothing is always neat and clean.

Tinge is awarded for his role as an accordionist in the association. He not only accompanies the dancers, but also puts together the program for the performances together with the presenter.
