The pilot had sent an emergency call on Sunday evening, after which a search began. The crashed plane was found a few hours later. The three occupants, the pilot and two passengers, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Icelandic radio station RÚV reports that it is a Cessna 172.
The authorities have launched an investigation.
