Three injured in explosion in Zuienkerke

The incident took place around 7.20 am along the Oostendse Steenweg in Zuienkerke. A violent explosion occurred in the house next to a dance tavern. However, it is not yet clear how exactly the explosion could have happened. There was no malicious intent in the explosion.

Three residents of the building were injured in the explosion. Two women and a man were taken to hospital, but one of the women in particular was said to have sustained serious injuries.

The restaurant was saved, but the house suffered a lot of damage. The explosion in the old building may have also released asbestos.
