Three incendiary bombs! Left-wing radicals attack transmission mast in Köpenick

By Axel Lier

It was an attack on the digital infrastructure! Left-wing extremists attacked a transmission tower with firebombs. The attack failed. The police initially assumed a technical defect – but now the state security is investigating!

“The amount of fire damage has not yet been quantified,” says Martin Stralau, spokesman for the police. It hit the transmission mast in a green area on Hämmerlingstraße in Köpenick, next to the area of the Deutsche Reichsbahn amplifier office at Wuhlheide station.

“Around 1:40 a.m. on August 4, a witness found a fire there,” the spokesman continued. The police officers initially assumed a technical defect – an investigation error! Because a few days later, the left-wing extremists published a letter of confession on the Internet.

It says: “Therefore, we placed three time-delayed incendiary devices under the cable layer, the computer housing and the power distributor from the mast.” was.” Now the state security has taken over the investigation.

According to the criminals, the aim was not only to destroy the mast, but also to sabotage the communication of the nearby Wuhlheide Innovation Park. More than 200 companies from the tech industry are based there on 32 hectares.

These “…of course need sensitive infrastructure that can realize their technology madness,” says the letter of confession. “We do not want their world and we see this sabotage as a contribution to the call to switch off – a call to revolt”. Fortunately, the arson attack had no effect on the site.

Since the police initially apparently assumed spontaneous combustion, there was no notification to the media. This, in turn, seems to annoy the perpetrators more than the less ineffectiveness of their actions. In their letter, they speculate about “a kind of news ban imposed by law enforcement or politics”.
