Three houses uninhabitable due to fire: ‘I could no longer see the kitchen’

Anita and Koos are still shaking. The house of their neighbors in the Monseigneur van Schaikstraat in Den Bosch completely burned down on Friday morning. But their house also has significant damage. And one of their cats can’t be found, even though the neighbour’s cat has already died from the fire.

Anita and Koos are ready with leashes and the litter box. But their cats are nowhere to be found after the devastating neighbor fire.

Anita smelled a burning smell when she was upstairs on Friday morning, she says. “I immediately went downstairs because I thought there might be something wrong with my kitchen. But I could no longer see the kitchen because of all the smoke.”

Panic was great
Koos immediately came home from work, because the panic was great. Anita was shaking all over. “The neighbors made sure my dogs could get out, but I lost one of my two cats. That means a lot to me.”

Upstairs, the front of the house is badly damaged, Anita says. But the damage to the neighbors is even greater. The fire was caused by a stove in the living room. In no time the flames were high and the entire house was destroyed. A neighbor’s cat did not survive.
