Three goals in three minutes help hockey players past Argentina in Pro League | NOW

The Dutch hockey players again won against Argentina in the Pro League on Thursday. The team of national coach Jeroen Delmée showed resilience in Malden in Gelderland and was 3-1 too strong for the 2016 Olympic champion.

Halfway through, the Orange faced a 0-1 deficit due to a goal from Argentinian Martin Ferriero, but within three minutes after the break, the home team put things in order. Jonas de Geus gave the starting signal for the comeback after 29 seconds with a high flats.

Less than a minute later Steijn van Heijningen scored the second goal with a hard backhand in the short corner and barely a minute later Koen Bijen was the celebrated man. The attacker of Den Bosch tipped the ball in beautifully.

In the remainder of the game, the Netherlands held out relatively easily, so that the second victory in two days was not endangered. About 24 hours earlier, the Netherlands also settled with the team from South America (5-2).

Due to the victory, the Netherlands rises to fourth place in the ranking at the expense of Belgium and England. Delmée’s team is still without defeat and also has fewer loss points than leader India.

The Orange squad will travel directly to England on Friday, where two Pro League games against the home country will be played this weekend. The women will also face a diptych against England this weekend.
