The district court of Kanta-Häme has handed down verdicts for the restaurant and street brawl that took place in Forssa more than a year ago, which involved the players of the Forssa Palloseura.

Iltalehti reported on the case on August 31, 2022. The day before, FPS Hockey oy’s board had suspended “two people from the team’s operations for the time being”.

The district court sentenced the oldest convicted of assault to 50 days of suspended imprisonment and the two youngest to 30 days of suspended imprisonment. Everyone is involved in the activities of either the representative or U20 team playing in FPS Mestis this season.

Hämeen Sanomat was the first to report on the verdict.

According to the district court’s verdict, the assaults were directed at two different people. The assault in the first charge took place in a restaurant in Forssa.

The two hockey players grabbed a man in his forties by the chest, pushed him by the head, holding him to the ground, and tore his clothes and body. While the victim was on the ground, the two continued to tear at the victim, and the other punched or attempted to punch the victim several times in the body.

In the end, the orderlies separated the parties from each other.

However, the situation continued in front of the local pizzeria. At this point, a third, older FPS player also participated in the abuse of the same victim. The victim was pushed and pressed to the ground, punched in the body and head, and dragged along the ground on his knees.

A person intervened in the situation, but he was also a victim of abuse. The second victim was hit in the head with a fist. As a result, he hit his head on the street and lost consciousness. Among other things, he got a mild brain injury and lost a tooth.

According to the verdict, the first victim in the case suffered from pain, anxiety and a traumatic stress reaction. He had to be on sick leave for about a month.

The convicts admitted that they acted as described in the indictment. The district court saw the settlement reached in the case and the defendants’ contribution to solving their crimes as grounds for mitigation.

The judgment issued by the district court of Kanta-Häme is legally binding.
