Three Dutchmen arrested for serious threat to Belgian minister

Three Dutchmen were arrested in the night from Friday to Saturday following a serious threat to the Belgian Minister of Justice Vincent van Quickenborne (Open VLD). The Belgian federal prosecutor’s office reports this in a press release.

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) confirms that a Dutch trio has been arrested at the request of the Belgian authorities. It concerns three men aged 20, 29 and 48 and they were arrested in Leidschendam. The Public Prosecution Service cannot comment on the reason for the arrest. According to The standard the Belgian public prosecutor’s office was informed of the possible threat last week, after which an investigation was started. It turned out to be a “very serious threat”.

In addition to being Minister of Justice, Van Quickenborne is also Deputy Prime Minister of the Flemish Liberals. The administrator has been placed under increased security. On Instagram, the minister thanks the security services for their “quick and professional approach”. “Unfortunately, this is the reality that many people in the police and justice department are confronted with.
