With three representatives, Drenthe – together with Flevoland and Zeeland – closes the queue. Almost half of the new House of Representatives lives in South Holland and North Holland. Both provinces are overrepresented, because approximately 38 percent of the Dutch population lives there. South Holland provides 40 of the 150 MPs, or more than a quarter. Thirty representatives, or exactly 20 percent, are registered in North Holland.
North Brabant, the third province in the country in terms of population, is actually underrepresented. The province has 12 MPs, 8 percent of the total, while people from Brabant make up almost 15 percent of the Dutch population. Gelderland, the fourth province, also has relatively few representatives. Ten MPs live there, or 6.7 percent, while 12 percent of all Dutch people live in the province.
The provinces of Utrecht and Overijssel both have thirteen MPs. Both Limburg and Groningen have nine MPs. Four elected candidates live in Friesland. A candidate is registered in London.
