The home team smelled blood after the opening goal. Volendam survived a dangerous moment in front of its own goal because Mirani shot the ball against his own keeper. Moments later, Vellios’ goal was disallowed. We had to wait for a second from PEC, but in the 70th minute Mirani put his team on level terms. With a corner kick he was alert after a mistake by Schendelaar and scored the 1-1.
Towards the end it was mainly about holding Simons’ team back. PEC Zwolle came out well on a number of occasions, but the finishing was inaccurate. In the 92nd minute, the Volendam defense still seemed to collapse, as Vellios shot the ball unapproachably. But for the third time a Zwolle goal was disallowed.
