Lost two points, gained a captain!

Curious scene at Herthas 1: 1 in Mainz: captain Marvin Plattenhardt (30) has to go red after 54 minutes. That’s why he gives his bandage – to keeper Oliver Christensen (23)! The Dane is not a deputy and is playing his seventh Bundesliga game in Mainz.

Plattenhardt to BZ: “I received the information and implemented it, that’s all I know.”

Amazing: Lucas Tousart (25) is also on the pitch. The Frenchman has captained the team twice this season – but comes away empty-handed.

17 minutes later, Vladimir Darida (31) comes on and gets the armband from Christensen – the captain’s confusion is perfect.

Trainer Sandro Schwarz (43): “In the heat of the moment, I had Olli in my field of vision and said he should get the bandage. Then I noticed that Lucas was also on the field and asked me: Why doesn’t he have the bandage?”

Schwarz continued: “The team then decided for themselves with Vladi.” Schwarz laughing: “It was good for the team treasury, Olli as the new captain now has to spend one.”
