Three arrests for bank helpdesk fraud in Meppel

The police arrested three men in Meppel last Tuesday for attempted bank help desk fraud.

The potential victim was approached by telephone by a so-called bank employee who indicated that there had been fraud with his payment account. The ‘bank employee’ asked to hand over the debit card to a courier.

De Meppeler did not trust the case and called the police. He took a concealed position and was able to arrest a suspect who came to collect the pass.
Officers found two other men who may have been involved in the incident in a car nearby. They too have been arrested.

The suspects are a 25-year-old man from Diemen, a 27-year-old man from Amsterdam and a 24-year-old man without a fixed place of residence.
