Resale platform ThredUp has taken another step in the company’s sustainable development by appointing its first Head of Public Policy and Sustainability.
Seth Levey is tasked with leading the platform’s government affairs and policy initiatives to drive the adoption of circular business models more broadly. He will also oversee ThredUp’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) plans.
Previously, Levey served as Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs at Equinor, where he was responsible for developing ESG policy and advocacy. Levey has also advised US state governors on energy, economic development and international affairs.
“Public policy and sustainability are often separate functions within an organization. The merging of these two areas into one feature proves that ThredUp understands the greater impact resale with government and societal support can have on climate goals. Educating policymakers about the circular economy and ThredUp’s business model is the first step to making change happen, and I look forward to taking on this new and important role,” Levey said in a press release.
