Threatening language during anti-American demonstrations in North Korea: “US mainland is within shooting range” | North Korea

About 120,000 employees and students had gathered for the meetings in the capital Pyongyang, state news agency KCNA reported. This marked the start of the Korean War 73 years ago, including in a stadium in the city. North and South Korea are actually still at war with each other, because the Korean War ended in 1953 with an armistice and therefore not with a full-fledged peace agreement.

Several protesters chanted slogans promising a “war of revenge” to destroy the US. A separate report from the North Korean foreign ministry said that the US is making “desperate efforts to ignite nuclear war”.

North Korea regularly uses threatening language towards the US. The country recently reported via KCNA that North Korea had “the strongest weapon to punish US imperialists” with a new military spy satellite. The launch of that satellite failed at the end of May, but the country has already hinted at a new attempt soon.
