Thousands offered to adopt Syrian miracle baby Aya, but granduncle won’t let her go | Abroad

Despite the thousands of offers for adoption, miracle baby Aya’s great uncle decided to keep the girl herself. Aya was born under the rubble of the earthquake in Syria and was found still with the umbilical cord tied to her deceased mother.

Baby Aya, Arabic for ‘miracle’, was found buried under concrete with her umbilical cord still attached to her deceased mother. Her father and her siblings also came after the earthquake. Aya is currently still in hospital for her minor injuries but is getting better every day.

Hospital manager Khalid Attiah testifies that since Aya’s rescue, he has received dozens of calls from people all over the world wanting to adopt the little miracle. Thousands of people are also asking for information on social media to adopt her. However, baby Aya will still be taken in by her great-uncle Salah, al-Badran, once she is released from the hospital. His home was also completely destroyed by the earthquake. He currently lives in a tent with eleven other people from his own household.

Until then, Attiah’s wife, who herself gave birth to a daughter four months ago, will breastfeed Aya alongside their own child. Until her family returns, I will treat her as one of my own children.
