Airline Transavia has duped several thousand passengers by canceling their holiday due to an aircraft shortage. Two devices are broken and four second-hand units were not delivered on time. According to a spokesperson, 5 percent of all Transavia flights were canceled in April and May, but an alternative travel date was found for the vast majority of customers.
Nevertheless, Transavia was unable to book a new flight for a few thousand passengers. They get their money back. Travelers who can be rebooked are offered flights that depart a day earlier or later.
The shortage of aircraft is due to a delay in the delivery of five Boeing 737s acquired from Romania’s Blue Air. A Boeing has now been taken into use, but the delivery of the other aircraft is too late for thousands of Transavia passengers who have broken down. In addition, two Boeing 737s are undergoing maintenance for longer.
sick reports
According to Luchtvaartnieuws.nl sick reports to Transavia’s technical service also play a role in the maintenance delay. Part of the staff is also unavailable because they are being retrained for new types of aircraft: the Airbus A321 and A320neo.
May holiday
Transavia informs NH that all breakdown passengers were informed in the first week of April of their rebooking or canceled holiday. The May holiday starts next Friday. To avoid overcrowded terminals limited Schiphol the number of travelers that can depart from the airport.
