Thousands of French people take to the streets for more wages | Abroad

Organizers say 40,000 people took to the streets in Paris. Secretary-General Philippe Martinez of the CGT union spoke of “a first warning to the government and employers”. Several left-wing politicians joined the demonstration.

There were also demonstrations in Marseille, Nantes, Toulouse and several smaller cities. Although those demonstrations were much smaller in size.

In education and public transport, some of the staff stayed away to participate in the protest. In Paris, tourists were unable to visit the Eiffel Tower due to the strike.
