The refugee crisis in Europe is the worst since World War II.
Number of inhabitants of Ukraine before the war: 44 million†
Ukrainians who have fled that country: 3.6 million†
Number of internally displaced persons: over 6 million†
Poland has so far taken in the most refugees: 2.1 million†
Number of Ukrainians in the Netherlands: 13,500† The actual number is higher, because refugees who have been taken in by private individuals and family are not yet all in the picture. There have now been 5620 Ukrainians registered with a Dutch municipality. This may concern people who are in emergency shelters as well as people who have found shelter themselves. Municipalities have 26,000 reception places ready.
