Marius Bülter has been playing for FC Schalke 04 since summer 2021. Now the attacker has explained what the Royal Blues are for him and what his two most memorable moments at the Revierklub have been.
At 28 years old, Marius Bülter has already had an extremely varied career. Four years ago, the Ibbenbüren native stormed in the Regionalliga West for SV Rödinghausen. About half a year ago they went to FC Schalke 04 via 1. FC Magdeburg and Union Berlin. There the attacker, who was trained in the youth of Prussia Munster, found a whole new world.
“I’ve heard again and again how big the club should be. To be a part of Schalke and actually to see what’s behind it exceeded my expectations,” said Bülter to the “WAZ”.
The whole club is “madness”. “The feeling of walking into the full arena and then being whipped forward by the fans is indescribable,” said the 28-year-old looking back on those weeks when the Veltins Arena was (still) well filled.
With the size of the new club, however, so did the responsibility, as Bülter had to admit. “You can quickly feel how great the pressure can be. I knew that Schalke was also special in this regard – but I could only guess how exactly it felt,” said the striker.
At Union Berlin there was “a different pressure” than with the miners. “There it was about staying up, here we are fighting for promotion,” declared Bülter and added: “The pressure is great and that is not always easy.”
Bülter: That’s why I signed with FC Schalke 04
But his new team has “done well” so far. “Although there were phases in which the criticism increased, we always managed to pull the lever,” said the Schalke professional, who personally highlighted two very special moments.
“Two games spontaneously come to my mind. The 1-0 away win in Hanover with the goal in the last minute was very special,” revealed Bülter. “But also the 3-0 home win against Dynamo Dresden in the sold-out arena in front of more than 50,000 fans. To celebrate afterwards in front of the north curve was extraordinary, just great.”
That’s when he noticed what his new club was all about. “I signed here because of moments like this,” said Bülter.
