Coach Thomas Tuchel from Bayern Munich cannot fully enjoy the days off during the international break – he is already anxiously thinking about the next difficult task.
“We’ll play away, glorious schedule, on a Friday evening,” said Tuchel after the 4:2 (2:0) against 1. FC Heidenheim about the game at 1. FC Köln on November 24th. “This is of course a sensational appointment for FC Bayern Munich,” complained Tuchel.
The background: Almost all of his professionals are traveling with their national teams. The German selection players, for example, only come back to Munich on Wednesdays after the international match in Vienna against Austria. There isn’t much time for preparation.
“This is an opportunity for us in the coaching team to take a short break and catch our breath before we tackle the final phase,” said Tuchel. “The big but is that the whole team is gone. We’re looking very closely at when and how they come back.”
For him personally, switching off would be “no problem,” Tuchel claimed, despite all his worries, and announced: “I won’t be watching much football.”
