Thomas Tuchel answers question about aluminum crate

Thomas Tuchel has to face some questions after his decision to leave FC Bayern. On Saturday evening, however, something unusual happened.

In the press conference after the game, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel, who was leaving at the end of the season, reacted with biting irony to a journalist’s provocative question about why he sat mostly on an aluminum box on the sidelines during the win against RB Leipzig.

“Can you reveal what was in there? And can you interpret it to mean that they are sitting on packed suitcases?” Tuchel was asked after the 2-1 win in the top game of the Bundesliga.

“That’s exactly how it was intended,” Tuchel replied: “I brought it with me from home. All the things are already packed in the aluminum suitcase. That’s why we did it that way. It’s nice that it arrived that way.” He then continued to speak objectively about the game.

The Munich team announced during the week that Thomas Tuchel would be retiring in the summer, one year before the end of his contract. “It was important that after this decision the team and the coach fought, played a good game and deserved to win,” said Bayern President Herbert Hainer.

He added: “If FC Bayern loses three times in a row, then we all have to question ourselves. The team, the coach, us in leadership. That is not our claim. But we will draw the right analyzes and conclusions from it and do the right thing .”
