Ice hockey | NHL: Bad rub for Draisaitl and the Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers around German ice hockey superstar Leon Draisaitl are once again in a crisis of results in the NHL.

The Oilers clearly lost 3:6 against the Calgary Flames in their own stadium and suffered their third defeat in a row. Draisaitl contributed an assist.

Due to the recent negative run, the Oilers are in danger of carelessly squandering their hard-fought comeback towards the playoff places after a completely botched start to the season. However, the Canadians are still on track with 68 points.

Things went much better for the Detroit Red Wings around Moritz Seider. The Red Wings celebrated a clear 6-1 home win against the St. Louis Blues, with Seider also scoring an assist.

Detroit overran the overwhelmed guests, especially in the first third, and the score was 4-0 after the first 20 minutes.

Stützle scores in the penalty shootout

The victory of the Ottawa Senators around Tim Stützle was not quite as clear, but all the more surprising. In the 4-3 win after a penalty shootout against the Vegas Golden Knights, Stützle played a key role; he was the only player able to convert his attempt in the shootout, thereby securing victory for his team.

Goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer, however, was only able to limit the damage for the Seattle Kraken. In the 2:5 defeat at home against the Minnesota Wild, Grubauer came into the game after 22 minutes when the score was 1:4 for the indisposed Joey Daccord and then showed a decent performance with 17 saves on 18 attempts. At one point, however, the Rosenheim native also had to fall back.

The San José Sharks around Nico Sturm suffered an expected defeat. The second-worst team in the league in terms of points lost 4-2 to the Nashville Predators. Sturm remained without a goal in just under 14 minutes of action.
