Thomas Müller warns FC Bayern: “Top form brings very little”

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller curbed the record champions’ euphoria after a great start to the season and before the weeks of truth.

“We also know that the finals and everything that goes with them will only be played in six months, nine months. That’s why our current top form doesn’t bring us much towards the Champions League victory,” said Müller at the obligatory Lederhosen shoot Sponsor Paulaner.

He would “bake smaller rolls, which now affects this outlook for the decisive games in the Champions League,” Müller continued. It’s more about “carrying this form and this way of playing football through the whole year. And that’s where the many games really start”.

You have, emphasized Müller, “a great team, we have great characters, great players and are currently performing great, of course. But we all know how quickly things can change in football. That’s why we have to deliver “Deliver and deliver again”.

De Ligt finds Lederhosen tradition “strange”

Bayern, who will initially play in the cup against third division team Viktoria Köln on Wednesday (8:46 p.m. / ARD and Sky), will start the group phase of the Champions League next week with an away game at Inter Milan (September 7th). Opponents there are also FC Barcelona with goalscorer Robert Lewandowski and Viktoria Pilsen. Müller spoke of a “spectacular group. We are challenged”. But, added superstar Sadio Mané: “We will be ready.”

Like the other Munich additions Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Ryan Gravenberch and Mathys Tel, Mané received the Bavarian costume on Sunday. “It’s a bit strange, but it’s okay. Anyone who signs with FC Bayern knows about the club’s lederhosen tradition,” said Dutchman de Ligt.
