Thomas Müller has only been playing in the MLS for a few weeks. After the regular season, he is already ahead of superstar Lionel Messi in one statistic.
Strong statistics in Major League Soccer (MLS): Thomas Müller is just ahead of Lionel Messi in terms of goal average. The Vancouver Whitecaps offensive player scored 1.16 goals per 90 minutes after the regular season. Messi is just behind with 1.08.
The difference: Müller has only played seven MLS games – he scored seven times. Messi, on the other hand, scored 29 goals in 28 appearances. The Argentine also clearly leads the league in terms of scorers: In total, the 2022 world champion was directly involved in 48 goals for Inter Miami.
Müller presented the statistics on X (formerly Twitter) at the weekend – and used the opportunity to point out his Whitecaps’ play-off start. The club will face FC Dallas on Monday. Inter Miami with Messi plays against Nashville SC on Saturday. Both teams need two wins each to advance to the next round.
