FC Bayern surprisingly loses against Werder Bremen. The North Germans then celebrate wildly. Thomas Müller, on the other hand, shows his frustration.
Thomas Müller is a friend of clear words. The Bayern striker almost always faces journalists after a game. This was also the case after his club’s Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen, which the record champions surprisingly lost 1-0 in their home arena on Sunday.
When Müller presented himself to the waiting press representatives in the mixed zone, the guest party was already going on in the background. Central defender Niklas Stark walked through the hallways with a portable music box and beer was carried into the Werder team cabin. The outsider celebrated wildly.
Given the atmosphere, Müller apparently no longer felt any desire to ask too many questions. The world champion stopped the obligatory question and answer session in the mixed zone after a short statement. “Now you realize it was important to them. You can write that,” was his comment. Then he disappeared.
“We were far too sluggish”
“We were far too sluggish, without life in it. You don’t have to shout, but it’s about how much you can see in a team that they want to score a goal,” said the striker on the streaming channel DAZN. “For 60 or 70 minutes there wasn’t enough fire, we were begging for a goal.”
On Wednesday there is an opportunity for Munich to do better. Then the record champions play against 1. FC Union Berlin.
