Krol is currently preparing for the Beijing Winter Games. “I’m super happy to be part of this dream team for another two years,” he says. “Jac has been the reason I grew to the top of the world. I therefore see this team as the only right place to develop further in the coming years.”
Krol has been part of Team Jumbo-Visma for four seasons. “We currently have the fastest sprint team in the world. We are all 34 riders in the 500 meters and at least 1.08 in the 1000 meters. There is no team that can match our level,” says the two-time world champion in the 1500 meters. “We bring out the best in each other and also have a lot of fun together. I hope this team stays together.”
Coach Orie is also happy that Krol will stay. “Thomas has been among the absolute top for years and shows that time and again. I think it’s great that we can continue the trajectory with him after the Games. With his 34.69 in the 500 meters he has also shown that he has even more speed than we thought. We hope to be able to exploit that speed in the future.”
In two weeks, Krol will compete in China in the 500, 1000 and 1500 meters.
