Today Inside is pretty much the only high-profile program on television right now, so there’s almost nothing else to talk about. Beau van Erven Dorens received Eva Jinek on his talk show yesterday and she said how bad she was that Johan Derksen called her an ‘uncollegial slut’ on live television on Thursday evening.

Thom explodes

Eva has now called the VI stars and told Beau that it is a closed chapter as far as she is concerned. But fellow guest Thom Hoffman thought very differently. “Isn’t that a bit easy?”

He continues: “Shouldn’t it be gradually said: ‘Stop with that nonsense!’ With that screaming, that accusing, that shouting, those rude words. It was a football program. Their thinking frame is determined by four corner flags and two goals. They should not concern themselves with the daily current affairs!”

‘It bothers me’

Thom thinks it’s a shame that Johan has called Eva a ‘slut’. “As a viewer, it bothers me terribly that people are talked about in this way and I think you should stand up for that. You can say, ‘This is terrible, it just can’t be done, it has to stop!’”

He continues: “It is really unbearable that it is immediately back on television and immediately has 1.5 million viewers and that a lady is sitting there at the table who does not respond at all. Where are those ladies who stand up for the fellow women? Say something about it! Then you let us hear from you, right? Hélène Hendriks, let us hear from you. I really like…”

keep decency

Thom was supported at the table by Chazia Mourali, while Eva and Beau were neutral. Beau: “We simply have a very diverse media system. We have Ongehoord Nederland with the public broadcaster, which also produces language…”

Thomas: “Can’t you keep your decency when you’re on television? You don’t have to curse, do you? Surely you can say, “I don’t agree with what Eva said.” I haven’t even seen it, so I don’t know about it, but the style it’s happening with is really below the belt. I think it really needs to be said from above…”

What does Helene think?

Beau: “Yes, but look. They don’t care what we say. We’re here, we’re on this station. They are on that channel and have to know it all by themselves. I don’t want to get involved in that at all.”

Finally, what does Hélène think about this? The presenter is addressed by Thom about her association with Today Inside. She happened to be a guest in VI yesterday and admitted that she never had any doubts about her performances in the show: “No, no. No, why? Why should I doubt?”
