Last year, traffic once again claimed lives in Drenthe. The first fatal accident in our province happened on February 9, when a man died in Nijeveen.
A number of accidents had a major impact on society.
A girl from Assen died in an accident on the Hemmenweg between Ekehaar and Anreep at the end of August. She was in a car with four other minors, which crashed into a tree. Four of the young people came from Assen, the fifth lived in Rolde. None of the young people had a driver’s license, police reported.
Shortly afterwards, a 15-year-old girl was killed when she was hit by a car in Rolde. She was on her way home from school on her bicycle and died two days after the accident.
Both victims were students of Dr. Nassau College in Assen.
