In a recording, it happens to have unwanted silent pauses. These taint the quality of the video or audio as well as its dynamics. To overcome this problem, there are tools to easily remove these annoying pauses, such as Received. At the moment, the application is only available on Mac. It is being developed for Windows devices.
Remove silences in a few clicks
Initially, cutting silence from a video or audio takes a little time. You have to watch all the content again, pause when there is a silence and delete the part in question. With Recut, this daunting step is a thing of the past. The app automatically identifies all silent parts of a video. For this, only a few minutes are enough.
Thanks to AI, this tool allows you to create neat social media posts
First, you have to open a recording in Recut. The tool highlights all silent moments in red. By pressing the “Play” button, it is possible to hear the result without all those pauses that pollute the rendering. The cursor jumps at each moment that has been cut.
The advantage is that Recut offers customization features. One of them gives the user the possibility to define which silences he wishes to remove. It can be all those longer than one second or three seconds. However, it is always possible to leave the choice to the application by clicking on “Auto”. It will analyze the recording and try to choose a good default threshold. At the same time, Recut also allows you to leave spaces between cuts.
In case the application has removed a pause made intentionally, for a dramatic effect or to show a product, do not panic. Just click on the part in question and on “Backspace”. Note that Recut also gives the possibility of removing bad takes. For this, you have to do the same manipulation. On final export, the red sections will be removed and the blue sections will be kept.
Once the modifications have been made, it is time to download the content. Recut offers to export the file in XML and EDL. In this way, it can be imported into software such as Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere or ScreenFlow. In the context of a video, the tool allows you to extract only the audio if necessary.
Recut features can be tested for free. However, it will cost 99 dollars to get the application.
