Travelers consider Lage Zwaluwe station to be the least attractive station in the Netherlands. This is evident from the Station Experience Monitor 2022, a study by I&O Research on behalf of NS and ProRail among 85,000 train passengers.
Lage Zwaluwe station is the only station in the Netherlands to receive an unsatisfactory grade, a 5.2. That was already the case in 2020.
Hub
Despite the fact that the platform has been renovated and LED lighting has been installed, the station continues to suffer from the fact that it is located at a distance from the village and next to the highway, according to the NS. “Travellers find the station well-arranged and easy to get on the train.” The municipality of Moerdijk has plans for the station: it should become a ‘hub’ where various means of transport come together, and social safety should also be improved.
The most appreciated station in the Netherlands is Klimmen-Ransdaal in Limburg. This is rewarded with an 8.3. “Travellers appreciate this station because of its beautiful location in the hilly landscape and because of the monumental station building from 1913 with restaurant and terrace on the platform.”
Green deposit
Compared to five years ago, Tilburg Reeshof is the biggest climber in the ranking. This station received a 7.3 as a score from travelers this year, almost one point more than in 2017. “Travellers think this is a well-arranged station, where you can find good information,” says NS spokesman Arno Leblanc.
In addition, the environment is well assessed. “The municipality of Tilburg has redesigned the station area. New plants, trees and benches have been placed. And we had the edges of the station building cleaned extra because it had green deposits.”
Brabant top three
Compared to last year, Ravenstein is also doing very well. That station is in the top three most appreciated stations in Brabant. Travelers give Ravenstein a 7.6. “This station was renovated in 2018 and last year the level crossing was made more accessible for people with a disability. In addition, the weeds have been removed from the bicycle shed.”
Deurne station is the most appreciated station in Brabant. This station is described as spacious and well-arranged. The top three is completed by station Breda.
